Faculty and Staff

The instructors at Healing Arts Institute are all practicing massage or bodywork therapists who teach for us part time. Most are graduates of HAI.

Scott Anderson, LMT, NMRT, BS, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program and Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Therapy Program graduate. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Scott’s main focus is on sports injury and rehabilitation, and he has been working with a successful chiropractic office and wellness clinic for eight years. He teaches Body Insight 3.

Tracey Caldwell, LMT, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate and has a successful massage therapy practice. Currently she teaches Student Clinic.

Tasha Enright, LMT, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate. She maintains a successful massage therapy practice and teaches Massage 1 and Business Development.

Jennifer Grogan, LMT, graduated from Colorado School of Healing Arts (CSHA) in Lakewood, Colorado as a massage therapist. She maintains a private practice with deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, Swedish, and sports massage, as well as neuromuscular specialties. Jennifer teaches Anatomy 1 and 2 and Pathology.

Ben Jordan, LMT, Reflexologist, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program and Reflexology Program graduate with a successful massage therapy practice. At HAI, he teaches Body Insight 1, Movement and Body Awareness, Structural Kinesiology, and Student Clinic. He is also a professional tutor.

Toni McGarvey, LMT, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate who maintains a successful massage therapy practice and manages a spa. She teaches Massage 1 and 2.

Sean McLaren, LMT, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate and the official massage therapist for the Colorado Eagles hockey team. He also has a successful private practice, focusing on sports massage and neuromuscular rehabilitation.  He has been an HAI instructor since 2000 and teaches Body Insight 2 and Sports Massage.  As an avid athlete, he brings his experience into every one of his courses.

John Petersen, LMT, BA is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate who also has a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is head therapist in charge of hiring and training at a local spa and specializes in lymphatic and Abhyanga massage. John teaches Professional Massage 3, Body Insight 3, and Sports Massage.

Josh Reyling, LMT, is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate who is the owner of a successful massage therapy practice and also a river guide. He teaches Massage 2, Movement and Body Awareness, Body Insight 2, Anatomy 1 & 2, Physiology 1 & 2, and Student Clinic.

Gary Salinger, LMT, BMT, BA, graduated from Colorado School of Healing Arts (CSHA) in Lakewood, Colorado as a massage therapist. He also has a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Gary is the founder and director of Healing Arts Institute, as well as the director of education and programming. He is the author of Body InsightTMIntegrative Neuromuscular Therapy and has developed and led seminars internationally in the Body InsightTM method. He has an extensive background in Body/Mind medicine, oriental medical theory, and learning theory. Gary currently teaches Body Insight 1 and 3, Ethics, Structural Kinesiology, and Clinic Seminar for the Massage Therapy Program and Scoliosis Treatment Protocol in the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Therapy Program.

Barbara Shannon, LMT, NCBTMB is an HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate who has maintained a successful practice for 25 years. Specializing in spa and aromatherapy training, she has taught at the Biltmore, The Breakers, Sonoma Mission Inn and many more. During her career, she helped Judith Jackson design spas and salons, hired and trained therapists, and ran global logistics for three cruise ships. At HAI she teaches Professional Massage 1 & 2, Abhyanga Massage, and Business Development for the Massage Therapy Program, as well as several elective courses in Aromatherapy Lymphatic Massage, Aromatherapy Blending, Seaweed Masque & Saltglo Treatment, and Shiatsu. Barb’s infectious enthusiasm makes all of her classes a real treat.

Wendi Williams, LMT, is an HAI Massage Therapy graduate and successfully practices massage therapy. She teaches Massage 3.

Administrative Staff

Gary Salinger, LMT, BMT, BA (Massage Therapy, Colorado School of Healing Arts (CSHA) History, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) Gary is the founder and director of Healing Arts Institute, as well as the director of education and programming. He is the author of Body InsightTM Integrative Neuromuscular Therapy and has developed and led seminars internationally in the Body InsightTM method. His background in Body/Mind Therapy and innovative learning theory combined with his passion and leadership has helped him guide the Healing Arts staff into one of the most dynamic instructional groups in the field. He is involved in conflict resolution and mediation, develops and supervises all programming, and provides teacher in-services.

Cheryl Salinger, BA  (Health Science, San Francisco State University) Cheryl is the HAI Administrative Director and oversees the coordination of HAI administration, business office, and career services.

Candy Chant, BA (Bates College, Lewiston, Maine) Candy is our financial aid specialist.

Tasha Enright, LMT (Massage Therapy, Healing Arts Institute) Tasha is our school administrator, office manager, and Title IX coordinator who also oversees career services and community outreach.

Ann Kreycik, AS  (Administration, National College of Business, Rapid City, South Dakota) Ann is our admissions coordinator.
